Whorl Instructions

1) Hang temporarily.

 

2) Working from the center outward,

3) gently press each section open toward the connecting axis

4) with one hand in front and the other behind.

5) Adjust any section by pressing open or closed, until evenly spaced.

6) Completely open, it will spiral more than one time around.

Note that the duralar (plastic) has very elastic properties, so it is necessary to press each section at the axis with a little more pressure, as it will want to flex back to it's original flat position. The copper and brass are thicker and require more force, but they will not flex back once pressed.

The copper and brass will naturally patina into greens and blues as it oxidizes, depending upon the exposure to the elements such as sunlight, salt water etc... If you want the color to stay at any point, I recommend a yearly coating of any clear, high gloss aerosol spray. Many brands of silicone and acrylic are available at hardware stores.
